Aseer Vidyalaya, a school for the Mentally challenged was started on 1st December 1991 on 10 cents of land belonging to the parish church of Thettiode. Sr. Maria, the then Provincial of Deva Matha Province got the written permission from the venerable curia of His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil, the then Archbishop of Changanacherry to construct the building on the land belonging to the parish church of Thettiode. As the numberof students increased it was found that the activities of the school could not be conducted in that small buiklding. Hence 39 cents of land was purchased by San Joe Porovince, Thuckalay. A spacious building was constructed on that plot by the Provincial team of Sr. Ancilin. The new building was blessed and inaugurated by His Beatitude Mar George Cardinal Alencherry on 28th March 2012. This was followed by a meeting in which His Beatitude congratulated the Provincial team and the sisters for their strenuous effort in doing service to the suffering class of people. The president of P.T.A. thanked His Beatitude and all the guests. After the meeting a sumptuous meal was served to all who were present for the function. Rev. Fathers of Thuckalay Diocese,the sisters of San Joe Province, The Parishioners of Thettiode and the students and parents of the M.R. Children participated in the functions. The original school building was handed over to the Diocese of Thuckalay without receiving any remuneration.
